Aman-i-Khas - IndiaThe latest trendy travel movement? Glamping. Glamorous camping – if that wasn’t obvious – seems to be everywhere I look! Let’s be honest, I’m not much of a camper. I’ve tried a few times, but never really took to it. I’ve always thought my aversion to camping was such a shame because I really do love being outdoors and getting back to nature. I wish I could be the girl who says, “Look at me! I’m so easy going, I don’t mind sleeping on cold grass or using the restroom in the woods. Let’s roast some fresh caught trout then bathe in the babbling brook! I’m one with the world!” Unfortunately, I have a deep-rooted fear of forest creatures that prevents me reaching camping nirvana. What is a tent going to do if a hungry bear strolls by!?
As it turns out, I’m not alone. It appears our species is finally evolving in the camping arena. Glamping isn’t
Palmar Tent Lodge - Panama just 5-star safari lodges in South Africa anymore, it’s a craze that’s sweeping our nation! Luxury camping retreats and resorts are popping up all over the place. You no longer need to fly to Kenya to sleep amongst wild game. You no longer need to pitch your own tents. You don’t even have to sacrifice basic comforts like plumbing or electricity. USA Today has a great article on Glamping that highlights Nomad Ridge in Ohio, “a luxury wilderness experience in southeastern Ohio.” For even more Glamping ideas, you can visit www.glampinghub.com, which has a seriously good international database.
I may not be ready to sleep amongst the wild animals, luxury tent or not, but I can definitely get on board with this type of beach glamping:
