HUMAN PLANET

OK. So this is loosely travel related, but it's so stunning, I simply had to share it. The BBC spent two years shooting this 8 part documentary series. The idea was to "describe the human species and its relationship with the natural world by showing the remarkable ways humans have adapted to life in every environment on earth." From this preview, it's clear they've managed to capture even more than they imagined. What appeals to me, of course, is the very local depiction of numerous cultures that are difficult to visit and nearly impossible to infiltrate. If the Suri Tribespeople of Ethiopia would let me join them hunting,--I'd do it in a heart beat--but watching their ceremonies on HUMAN PLANET is probably as close as I'm going to get. Enjoy:

UPDATE:

Several of you asked where you can watch the series in its entirety. It has already aired in the UK, but in the US, the Discovery Channel will begin airing episodes on April 10th!
