Favorite Hotels: THE BREAKERS PALM BEACH

The Breakers, Palm Beach

People often ask, “what’s your favorite hotel you’ve ever stayed at?” It’s an impossible question. There are so many determining factors—location, staff, fellow guests, diet coke quality, noise level—the list goes on and on. Every experience is so different. Can you really compare a tiny Slovenian bed and breakfast with a five star Vegas high rise? Maybe not directly, but here’s the universal test: while you’re staying in the hotel, do you feel like you’re experiencing the place you’ve come to visit? A hotel shouldn’t feel like it could be anywhere in the world, it should essentially “bring to life” the city, town or island you’ve traveled to. Things like modern conveniences, amenities, and food are always nice too,  but how I judge my hotel experiences, of course, really comes down to that local flair.

We’re starting a new series today: “Favorite Hotels” (for lack of a more original title). From time to time, Justin and I will each highlight some of our best stays, and the ten, unique reasons why. To kick things off, I’m profiling a new favorite, THE BREAKERS in Palm Beach, Florida. For the below reasons (as well as the ones stated above), The Breakers easily ranks near the top of my list:

The Breakers Beach ClubThe beach club. Private yet inviting, calming yet vibrant. The service is impeccable and the ambiance sings of a glam, old-world Palm Beach.

Planned activities. Are you ever too old for these? Join a historical bike tour around Palm Beach.

The towels. No expense is spared here.

The colors. The staff wear vibrant hues of yellow, orange and blue. The colors reflect the splashy Palm Beach scene to a tee.

 Oceanview Superior Room

 Tip is ALWAYS included. Convenience!

The history. The Breakers is more a less a historical landmark in its own right.

TV's in the bathroom mirrors. This is just cool.

The Breakers LobbyExpert concierge service. They’re not afraid to steer you off the beaten path.

Location. Location. Location.

The grandeur. Palm Beach in a word.

Has anyone else stayed at The Breakers? What were your favorite attributes?
